About the Strategy Map template
A Strategy Map is a one-page visual that links your organization's objectives across four Balanced Scorecard perspectives—Financial, Customer, Internal Process, and Learning & Growth—showing cause-and-effect relationships between them. It translates abstract strategy into a connected set of goals so teams can see how frontline capabilities ultimately drive financial and customer outcomes. Used well, it aligns leadership, clarifies priorities, and becomes the backbone for scorecard metrics and initiatives.
It's part of My QMS, MyPMP's Quality Management System: fill it in online, personalize it with your name and logo, then export a clean, branded PDF. Your work auto-saves in your browser.

- 💡Write objectives as verbs and outcomes ('Improve on-time delivery'), not activities or metrics
- 💡Test each arrow by asking 'does achieving the lower objective actually enable the higher one?'

FAQ
How is a Strategy Map different from a Balanced Scorecard?+
The Strategy Map shows the cause-and-effect story between objectives, while the Balanced Scorecard adds the measures, targets, and initiatives used to track each objective. The map is the narrative; the scorecard is the measurement system built on top of it.
What are the four perspectives in a Strategy Map?+
Financial (shareholder or budget outcomes), Customer (value delivered to customers), Internal Process (the operations that create that value), and Learning & Growth (people, culture, and technology). They stack from bottom to top, with lower perspectives enabling those above.
How many objectives should a Strategy Map have?+
Most effective maps carry roughly 12 to 20 objectives spread across the four perspectives. Fewer risks being too vague; more makes the causal links unreadable and dilutes strategic focus.
