An Eisenhower Matrix is a four-quadrant prioritization tool that sorts tasks by urgency and importance to decide what to do now, schedule, delegate, or drop. Named after Dwight D. Eisenhower's decision principle, it separates genuinely important work from tasks that merely feel pressing. It matters because it forces a deliberate choice about where finite time and attention go, rather than defaulting to whatever shouts loudest.

The interactive form above gives you:
It is a 2x2 grid that plots tasks against two axes β urgency and importance β producing four quadrants that map to distinct actions: do, schedule, delegate, and delete.
Urgent tasks demand immediate attention and have imminent consequences, while important tasks contribute to long-term goals and values; many urgent things are not important, and vital work is often not urgent.
A linear list ranks tasks in one dimension, whereas the matrix separates urgency from importance so you can see which items to defend time for and which to hand off or drop entirely.
