A Material List is an itemized breakdown of every material, quantity, and specification required to complete a construction task or phase. It ties the takeoff quantities to procurement so crews order the right products in the right amounts, controls waste, and keeps the schedule from stalling on missing stock. Used well, it becomes the reference point for purchasing, delivery checks, and cost tracking.
It's part of My QMS, MyPMP's Quality Management System: fill it in online, personalize it with your name and logo, then export a clean, branded PDF. Your work auto-saves in your browser.

A material list typically covers the raw materials and quantities for a construction task, while a bill of materials (BOM) is a hierarchical breakdown that also includes assemblies, sub-components, and how parts fit together for a finished product.
Take off measurements from the drawings, convert them to the material's unit of measure, then add a waste allowance for cuts, breakage, and overlap specific to each material.
It is usually created by the estimator or project engineer during takeoff, then verified by the site superintendent or foreman before purchasing places orders.
